A letter of demand is often a precursor to the commencement of proceedings. It is often used to demand payment in respect of unfulfilled legal obligations.  

Steps

Use this letter to try and collect payment in respect of goods sold and delivered:

  • you are the seller and sold goods to a customer
  • the customer has not fully paid you
  • you want to demand payment by a particular date
  • if you are not paid you want to put the buyer on notice that legal proceedings may be commenced.
