When someone close to you can no longer look after him or herself hard decisions may need to be made about getting another person to manage those affairs provided it is in the best interests of the person dealing with the disability. In many cases those with a genuine concern such as the family of the affected person or perhaps the NSW Trustee can bring an application to the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) or in some cases to the Supreme Court for a financial management order asking that a suitable person manage that estate.
